SAFE Living Manitoba

Safe Living Manitoba is a preventative functional screening and residential accessibility consulting service developed by Enabling Access Inc., to support people who are living with disabilities and those who wish to age in place safely. This unique service was established to assist families interested in finding out what equipment, support services, and home modifications could help make their home accessible and allow for safe aging in place. The service is customized to the individual residents and includes a physical and cognitive screening (where required) and a methodical residential assessment that produces a report with photos, identified fall and safety risks, and outlines recommendations for assistive devices, support services, and home modifications.

SAFE Living Manitoba is led by Marnie Courage, Inclusive Design Specialist and Occupational Therapist, who holds an Executive Certificate in Home Modifications from the University of Southern California and is an Aging in Place Specialist. Marnie and her team work collaboratively with the homeowner, renovation/construction company, architect, and other health care service providers to ensure solutions are explored that will ensure safe and accessible living environments and inclusive communities for Manitobans.
