Integrated Ergonomic Services

Our ergonomic assessments will identify risk factors associated with the job demands, workstation set up and working behaviors to provide a range of control measuers which will reduce or eliminate exposure to the identified risk factors. Ergonomic asssessments are preformed in a variety or office or industrial settings, medical facilities, schools, labratories and more. We travel to rural communities within Manitoba and surrounding provinces so we can be there when you need us most. The assessment includes an interview with the employee, a survey of the workstation and photos capturing the employee engaging in thier work tasks.  A detailed report which outlines the risk factors and low cost control measures is provided to assist the proactive employer with accommodating new employees or employees experiencing discomfort or pain.

With the increase in companies adopting Results Oriented Work Environments (ROWE), more people are working from a home office. When someone works from home, their equipment and workstation configuration is typically not set up to ergonomic standards and symptoms that feel like a nuisance can develop into chronic conditions which can be debilitating. Our occupational therapists will assess the risks and provide practical and cost effective solutions to prevent injury and improve productivity for the home based business owner, remote employee, or student. 

This is a generalized assessment that takes into account the risk factors that could contribute to discomfort, pain and injury in the workplace and includes a full analysis of a department or work area where 3 or more employees are located. Issues related to workstation set up, furniture choices, noise, lighting, and more are considered to provide recommendations for improvements and to prevent injury, improve comfort and productivity of employees. 

We combine the latest web based ergonomic software with proven assessment protocols to offer comprehensive ergonomic services to your team members, no matter what thier location, across the street or across the world. Once the risk factors are identified and recommendations are in place, our occupational therapists will coach the employee through setting up their workstation to accommodate their needs.

This one hour session covers ergonomic principles and human anatomy as they relate to postures, movement and productivity in the office based workplace. Common musculoskeletal injury(MSI) risk factors are identified and solutions are provided to help the participants learn to set up their own workstations, to prevent injury and to promote a healthy "workstyle".

Office Ergonomic Assessor Training- This is a one day course meant to support workplaces that are creating or have exisitng internal ergonomic programs. The training takes place in the workplace enviroment with participants benefiting from a half day of office ergonomic education and a half day of  the practical application of assessment skills and provision of solutions. Participants are provided with a certificate upon completion of the course and receive ongoing support and coaching from our occupational therapists. 

Industrial Ergonomic Assessor Training- This is a two day course meant to support workplaces that are creating or have exisitng internal ergonomic programs. The training takes place in the workplace enviroment with participants benefiting from a full day of industrial ergonomic education and a second full day of  practical application of assessment skills and provision of solutions. Participants are provided with a certificate upon completion of the course and receive ongoing support and coaching from our occupational therapists. 

Participants from both courses will come away from this training with skills and tools required to conduct ergonomic assessments in-house and recommend cost effective ergonomic solutions, with ongoing support provided by our occupational therapists, as required. 

This one hour course outlines basic anatomy relating to common RSI in the upper extremities, including carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, rotator cuff syndrome, and more. Risk factors that contribute to the onset of these conditions are presented and administrative, engineering and behavioral prevention methods are discussed.

This one hour session covers ergonomic principles and human anatomy as they relate to postures, movement and productivity in the dental office. Common musculoskeletal injury (MSI) risk factors are identified and solutions are provided to help the participants learn to use good body mechanics and to set up their equipment to reduce discomfort, prevent injury at work.
